New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders captain Sourav Ganguly was fined $20,000 for maintaining a slow over-rate during the opening match of the IPL against Deccan Chargers on Friday.
The IPL said that Ganguly has been fined after Kolkata Knight Riders were assessed to be three overs behind their required over rate.
Under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, match referee Andy Pycroft fined Ganguly.
Kolkata Knight Riders had beaten Deccan Chargers by 11 runs on Friday.
